A Payroll Specialist manages the entire payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely employee compensation, tax compliance, and deduction management. Key duties include processing timesheets, managing deductions, resolving discrepancies, and updating payroll systems. Ideal candidates have strong math skills, proficiency in software like ADP or QuickBooks, and strict confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Payroll Processing: Accurately process payroll for all employees using timesheets and attendance data.

Compliance & Tax: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and tax regulations.

Data Maintenance: Maintain up-to-date payroll records, including employee data, new hires, and terminations.

Deductions & Benefits: Manage payroll deductions, benefits contributions, and garnishments.

Discrepancy Resolution: Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond promptly to employee pay queries.

Reporting & Distribution: Prepare payroll reports for management and distribute paychecks/direct deposits.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Experience: Proven experience as a payroll specialist or similar role.

Software Proficiency: Familiarity with payroll software (e.g., ADP, QuickBooks, Payforce) and MS Office (especially Excel).

Analytical Skills: Strong mathematical and analytical skills to verify calculations.

Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy and organizational skills.

Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to communicate payroll matters effectively.

Education: BSc/BA in accounting, business, or a related field preferred.
